Next up, we move to game #2 in 3 Way-Action, "Blackjack." That "High Card" that you initially received to start the game? You keep it, and will be dealt another card, face up, so each player has a two-card Blackjack hand. (The dealer will deal HIS/HER second card DOWN, of course.)
Now, each player plays Blackjack against the dealer. Now, if you hit your 2-card Blackjack hand, all subsequent cards that you get will remain in your hand for the third part of the game, the poker hand. So, the players play Blackjack against the dealer, and those bets are paid or collected, with ties being a push.  cards that the players / dealer receive during Blackjack play remain on the table, as part of those players' hands.
Note: If the player draws to seven cards totaling twenty-one (21) or less, the player wins automatically. (Even money.) House edge in Blackjack, taking all normal factors into account -- About another 0.5%, give or take a smidge. You Basic Strategy players know the deal with this scenario.
So, now, with the Blackjack portion of the game completed, the table moves to the last of the games to be played - "Poker." It's now like Seven-Card-Stud Poker. Each of the players will be dealt cards face up, in turn, until each of them has seven cards in front of them, their poker hand. Simply stated, if your best five cards in your poker hand beats the dealers' best five, your "Poker" wager is paid off, even money.

Four-Card Poker and My Date With the Chumash Indians

So, off we go: up Highway 101, past Cachuma Lake, and, lo and behold, there it is. Hold on to your Aebleskivers, I can't believe it: It's a little Dutch town right here in California. Quaint, nice, friendly people, great food (I highly recommend the Solvang Restaurant), lots of places to see and visit.
I mean, LOTS of places: Including one more that I didn't know existed..... It seems that, just up the road from "Aebleskiver Alley," there's this brand new, bright and shiny building that stands out like a sore thumb. And, when I saw the name on this non-Solvang-looking monstrosity, it immediately caught my eye. You couldn't miss it.
"Chumash Indian Casino and Spa."
We drove right by this huge casino on our way into Solvang, and when my wife saw me looking at this marvel of casino engineering, she KNEW that the Chumash Indian tribe was going to be an unplanned part of her vacation. (Told you it would end up being an adventure. It just wouldn't be right if we didn't have a lil' adventure.)
Now, when I was in school, if you were to poll every history teacher that ever tried to interest me in the fine art of historical studies, they'd all tell you that everything I know about history would fit into a small paper cup. Over the years, i've improved my historical knowledge ever so slightly, especially in the area of American history, but I have to admit that American Indian history has slipped many a shot by this goalie.
"Do me a favor," my wife immediately blurts out, as we're passing this Chumash Casino. "Don't go investigating that place until we're on our way out of town, after our vacation." It's a deal, I say. So, after all of us have had our fill of every Danish pastry this side of Solvang, it's time. Vacation over, time to check out the "Chumash Indian Casino and Spa."
Now, I may not know a whole lot about the Chumash tribe, but I DO know the law when it comes to both the casino party industry AND California casinos in general. NO KIDS. Wifey's not interested in seeing this place, anyway. The only gambling she's ever done was marrying me, and since she's lost her only "wager," she's not looking to recoup her losses. She'll stay with the kids in the comfort of the covered patio outside the entrance to this place, and tells me, "go do your thing."
So, inside I go. Yep, pretty nice place. It is new, clean, and has the game roster you'd expect would be present in a California Indian-based casino: No Roulette, no Craps (not even card craps), PLENTY of slots, and when it comes to the table games, it's pretty much the usual suspects (BJ, Caribbean, 3CP), excepting for one.
Four Card Poker.
Now, I remember receiving the memo from the Shuffle-master corporation in regards to their newest creation, but I hadn't seen this game implemented onto a casino floor. OK, let's see how this works, I say to myself. Pull up a chair, let's take this game for a spin. However, refusing to ever slow play means that you're going to pass up great opportunities to win big pots. The key is to know when it's optimal to slow play, and when you should come out guns blazing.
The first thing to consider when deciding whether or not to slow play is your own table image. If you've been very aggressive recently, making lots of bets, reraising, etc, then perhaps now isn't the best time to slow play. You could take advantage of your recent activity by over-betting your hand in fact, hoping that someone picks this spot to put you to the test. The former is obviously achieved by limping in from early position, hoping that a few more people will do so, and that at least one person will raise, allowing you to reraise and isolate. The idea here is to slow play only until someone raises, at which point you reraise, making sure you don't find yourself with more than one opponent on the flop, if any. The trouble here is letting more people into the pot, and not being able to reraise if nobody raises. For this reason it makes sense to only do this if your table has been quite active, with lots of raising preflop. It also helps if you've limped a lot recently, so it won't seem suspicious.
This plan's perfect outcome is when you limp 1st position with AA, and a player 2nd or 3rd to act makes a small raise. A few people call, the more the merrier, and when it comes back round you make a sizeable reraise. Keep in mind here that this can look a bit obvious, and it actually looks more obvious with a weaker reraise, and everyone will have more value to call, so it makes sense to make a bigger bet. As a rule, the more people who are still in when it gets to you, the bigger your reraise needs to be.
For example - with blinds at say 50/100, on a very active table, you limp with AA from a 4k stack, and 2nd to act with 3k raises to 250. 3 players call, all with 4-5k, and its back on you. There's now 950 in the pot, a decent amount, but 4 other players in the pot. Depending on who the players are and how they've been playing, I'd recommend a reraise from 1000 upwards. The last thing you want really is 2 or more callers, especially out of position. If you do get called, then you can either shove the flop, or possibly make a smaller bet depending on the texture of the flop.
The second way relies a bit more on individual knowledge of a player who has already made a raise. The raise and your position need to such that you're either virtually last to enter the pot, or everyone else remaining is likely to fold. You flat call hoping for a heads up pot in which your opponent has no idea how strong your hole cards really are.
Opponents who have been continuation betting a lot are the best people to make this play against, out of position you can check to them with a decent likelihood of them betting out, or in position you can see what they do first. Either way the slow play can be carried further, depending again on the flop texture.
Against a tight opponent you are often better off putting in a reraise preflop for 2 reasons - firstly they are less likely to continue their aggression on the flop without hitting, but also because they must have a better hand in the first place for them to be raising, giving you more chance of getting paid off for a reraise pre.
The main thing to note with the slow play is that it will inevitably lead to you getting in situations where it's prudent to fold your big hand on the flop. Ability to get away from a hand and not fall in love with your big pair is vital here, and if you can't put down AsAc on a multi-way 9h10dJd flop with lots of action, then I don't advise trying to slow play in the first place, especially not the limping from early position method. If you're going to slow play, occasionally you're going to have to fold if it goes wrong.
Overall it's about picking the right table or opponent, the right time and position, and being able to get away if it all goes wrong. Don't be tempted to slow play just because you've been card dead for ages until now, make sure you consider all the angles first. The tells that the dealer will be giving off are going to be based on basic strategy, which is the assumption that there are more 10's in the deck than any other card because all the face cards count as ten points as well. Because of this, there is a higher probability that 10's will be drawn.
Determine the Dealer Hole Card
Knowing what the dealer's hole card is would be far more valuable than card counting. If the dealer has an ace facing up, the hole card must be checked to determine if the dealer has a natural blackjack (21 points). It is possible to read the dealer during this time to determine what this hidden card may be. There are two paramount things that you should be noting. The first one is to notice how long the dealer looks at the card and the second is how much the card is being bent up so that the dealer can read it.
Each card has numbers, symbols and sometimes faces. We all know that a face card (paint card) is either a Jack, Queen or King. Notice that in blackjack, all face cards count as 10 points. So the dealer doesn't need to check long to determine if it is a Jack, Queen or King. This corresponds to a quick glance at the hole card when the dealer is checking. This is a great tell with many experienced blackjack dealer who have played for a long time.
You can also determine when the dealer has a stiff hand or stiff hole card as well. If the dealer doesn't have a face card, then they must look more closely at their card. A stiff card would be a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. These cards are bad for the dealer and good for the player because the dealer would have to draw one more card after showing the hole card. Because there are more 10 point cards in the deck, there is a high probability that the dealer would go bust and the player would automatically win. The higher this stiff card is, the better the odds are for you.
The best card for observing a dealer tell is a hole card of 4. If you look at a deck of cards, the ace and the 4 almost look alike. For example, someone with bad eyes would have to take some time to look at the card to see the difference between "A" and "4"! This would be a powerful dealer tell that would be denoted as the dealer taking longer than normal to look at the cards and possibly bending it up higher to observe the correct symbols.
The great thing about winning at blackjack due to dealer tells is that the dealer normally isn't even aware that they are giving away tells. They are not poker players so they are not gambling with their own money. Players can usually get good at this by playing with the same dealer for the whole night or for many days. A good word of advice is to look for dealers who are "loose" and give off obvious tells such as bending the cards up at different heights and taking various time lengths to look at cards.
